Otereaute

Otereaute is a very unique horse.  Most of my horses are constructed using approximately fifty pieces of wood.  They are patterned, cut using a band saw, planed, glued, clamped, sculpted, and ultimately finished. Aughsagh, however, is constructed from only nine pieces of wood which made a single head piece, a single neck piece, three main body parts and four legs.

The gentleman who supplies me with wood surprised me with a Walnut remnant that consisted of approximately fifty inches of usable wood. Although it was malformed, he believed that beauty is often found in these remnants and once again he was correct.  He had cut the Walnut into three inch thick slabs and shed dried them for over four years. When the moisture content had finally reached the optimal point for carving at fifteen percent, it seemed as though the wood simply morphed into a horse by itself.
