Based on the
traditional English style bowed rocking horse, these magnificent
creations are hand crafted by Mike Rawson. Every piece is unique. Each has its
own character, personality and appearance. The entire piece is designed
to last for hundreds of years. They are true heritage pieces that
will last and last. Nothing will tip them over. They are
sheaved in polyurethane (NO paint). All connections are glued and
doweled and the rockers are laminated. Every horse is
signed and dated.
Each rocking
horse is constructed of a singular specie of a northern Ohio hardwood.
Select from a variety of wood for your own horse. Ash, Oak, Walnut, Cherry, Poplar, Maple, Sassafras, Elm,
Hickory, Kentucky Coffee Tree and Ohio Buckeye are most of the woods I
have used in the past. I just got finished with a maple and walnut
blend and another of a cherry and maple blend but they are the
exceptions.
To date, I have
constructed 33 horses and I can honestly say that they are all
beautifully done. All of them are the same size and general shape
but because of improvements in techniques and wood characteristics there
are great dissimilarities. Their size and beauty mandates
continued display so I know they will have good homes for their entire
life.
